(Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。花田国公主遗珠自幼被送往中原学习礼仪，因母后念女心切，故在其皇兄即花田国国王急召下，由中原大将麦炳荣护送回国。麦将军与遗珠在中原相处期间早生情愫，更以一曲订情。二人在画舫的归途上显得难舍难离，遗珠打算抵埗后立即向皇兄提出婚事，招麦将军为驸马。在航道上，军舰救起了殉情女子黄莺，遗珠恐其着凉，遂为她披上自己的公主袍。岂料同时海面上出现了索玛莉海盗，军舰不敌，惨遭全军覆没。黄莺的父亲黄百万在岸边苦苦寻找失踪女儿，但雇来的渔夫救起的却是意外失忆的遗珠。黄百万适逢丧妻又破产，把希望都寄托在女儿身上，为了让她重过富裕生活，百万本准备带她前往尚书府，履行早年跟好友订下的指腹为婚承诺。岂料黄莺心里早心有所属，为情投海殉情。而被黄百万捞回上岸的遗珠不但丧失记忆，更变成了严重漏口，百万见她楚楚可怜，故决定让她假冒自己女儿嫁进去尚书府享福。。
