民国年间白河镇诡谲案件频发：十二生肖挖心案、鬼婴杀人案等。李正九人称“九叔”，善于探查民间诡事，此前他的兄长离奇被杀，九叔怀疑这一切与白河镇案件有关。在九叔在经历了九死一生的调查之后，案子真相逐渐浮出水面。。故事发生在1938年的佛罗伦萨，玛丽（克里斯汀·斯科特·托马斯 Kristin Scott Thomas 饰）即将在这里展开她惬意的假期。一次偶然中，玛丽结识了年长的商人埃德加（詹姆斯·福克斯 James Fox 饰），后者随即对玛丽展开了热烈的攻势。玛丽并不爱埃德加，可埃德加拥有的财富和未来荣华富贵的生活却令玛丽陷入了犹豫之中。 就在这个节骨眼上，美国帅哥拉里（西恩·潘 Sean Penn 饰），法西斯军官莱奥帕蒂（马西莫·吉尼 Massimo Ghini）和身无分文的穷小伙雷切尔（杰瑞米·戴维斯 Jeremy Davies 饰）这三个地位悬殊个性迥异的男人接连出现在了玛丽的面前并对玛丽产生了兴趣。不知是出于同情还是怜悯，玛丽对处境窘迫的雷切尔颇为关照，雷切尔将这一系列的行为误解为了爱情，就此埋下了悲剧的种子。。Weapons of Death is not the most original Polizi flick you're ever likely to see, but that's not too much of a problem since the genre tends to borrow from itself often anyway.
