一个能乐艺人因其粗鲁导致一位老人死亡，从而被父亲赶出家门，成了一个街头乐手。他一直在街上游荡，最终帮助了死去老人的女儿，在这个过程中获得了父亲的原谅。。本片根据同名京剧改编，源出「水浒传」，胡金铨编剧。值得一提的是，擅演悲剧的乐蒂首次以俏皮方式演出丫头一角。故事始于才子卞济（乔庄）落拓花田，卖画维生，与官家小姐（丁宁）一见锺情，却因恶霸（朱牧）介入而波折重重，闹出连篇笑话……。An orphaned teenager forms an unlikely friendship with a detective. Together they investigate her mother's murder, and uncover the supernatural force that proves to be a threat to her family.。
