SYNOPSIS Urgently called, the police inspector has arrived in a hotel, and didn't find any crime, but noticed some strangenesses occurring there. He has decided to leave, but a snow avalanche is crushed in the mountains, making it impossible for him to leave. Soon, inspector has found a body of a dead lodger. (Strugatsky Brothers website) NOTES This is a crime / mystery thriller with surreal and psychedelic science fiction overtones based on a book Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle by the Strugatsky brothers. The screenplay was also written by the brothers and it differs from the book. The less you know about the movie the better starting point you have. The film is based largely on the mystery of what's happening to the people of Dead Mountaineer's Hotel. Is everything what it seems? Who's dead or who's not?。1970年代初的香港。 富家子弟凌希（姜大卫）对父亲所指的出国念书、将来做体面人之路无半点兴趣，他看重的是与女友辛蒂（陈美龄）在一起及鼓捣汽车时的无忧无虑，父亲几次试图劝服无果后表示理解，但警告他将来不要后悔。辛蒂有一个更为固执的父亲，虽然她是天生的歌手，父亲却严禁她唱歌，更难以接受不满16岁的她身边时刻有个“流里流气”的“阿飞”。 某事令辛蒂再也无法忍受父亲，她逃离到凌希家，但凌希父亲早有明确态度，这个家不欢迎未成年少女。不感沮丧反觉是种解放的凌希和辛迪找了间陋室租住了下来，两人一个在夜总会唱歌一个在汽车修理厂做工人，日子虽然辛苦，却因有美好的未来可憧憬令他们更加相爱。但他们将一切想的太过天真。。
